Cancer & Intimacy Survivorship Program

Cancer changed your life. It should not be the end of your pleasure.
Many women are told how chemo, surgery, or radiation may affect their survival. Very few are told how those same treatments can silence desire, cause pain with intimacy, or leave them feeling like a stranger in their own body.

At EMANCIPATRIX, we focus on the part of survivorship that most clinics skip: your sexual health, your intimacy, and your sense of yourself as a woman who still deserves pleasure and comfort.

Serving women in Central Florida and virtually across several states.

What nobody told you about cancer and sexual health
Sexual problems after cancer are common, not rare. Up to half or more of women treated for cancer report ongoing sexual concerns, including pain, dryness, loss of desire, difficulty with arousal or orgasm, and feeling disconnected from their body or partner.  This is not “in your head” and it is not something you just have to live with.

Common concerns we hear:
  • “Sex suddenly feels painful, like sandpaper or burning.”
  • “I want to be close, but my body does not respond.”
  • “I avoid intimacy because I am scared it will hurt or disappoint.”
  • “My body has changed and I do not feel sexy anymore.”
  • “My doctors saved my life, but nobody prepared me for this part.”
If you recognize yourself here, you are in the right place.

What we help you with
Our Cancer & Intimacy Survivorship Program supports you with:
  • Painful intercourse, exams, or tampon use
  • Vaginal dryness, irritation, or narrowing
  • Difficulty with lubrication, arousal, or orgasm
  • Low or “missing” desire
  • Fear, anxiety, or grief about sex and intimacy
  • Body image struggles after surgery, hair loss, or weight changes
  • Navigating early menopause or endocrine therapy side effects
  • Communication with partners about needs, limits, and fears
  • Exploring safe ways back to pleasure and closeness
We combine education, evidence based strategies, body based practices, and real talk about sex and survivorship.

What makes EMANCIPATRIX different:
You are not a diagnosis. You are a whole woman.
At EMANCIPATRIX, you work with a clinician who has:
  • Over 30 years of nursing experience and advanced training in women’s sexual health.
  • Specialized knowledge in cancer related sexual side effects, pelvic pain, and low desire.
  • A warm, judgment free style that lets you say the things you have not said anywhere else.
What you can expect:
  • Clear explanations of what treatment has done to your hormones, tissues, and nervous system
  • Options for managing pain and dryness, including evidence based non hormonal and hormonal strategies, used in collaboration with your medical team when needed
  • Gentle, step by step exercises to reconnect with your body and your pleasure at your pace
  • Tools to rebuild desire and intimacy, even if you are starting from zero
  • Space for partners, if you choose, so they can understand and support this part of your healing.
Our goal is simple: protect and restore your quality of life, not just your length of life.

1. How the program works
We perform an intimacy assessment to
  • Map out your current sexual concerns in plain language
  • Screen for pain, pelvic floor issues, and hormonal factors
  • Clarify your goals for intimacy, pleasure, and comfort
You leave this visit with a clear understanding of what is going on and a written overview of your care plan.

2. Our core program that includes:
  • Education about your body now and what can improve
  • Symptom relief strategies for pain, dryness, or tissue changes
  • Desire and arousal support, matched to your reality
  • Nervous system regulation and trauma informed care when needed
  • Body image, confidence, and rebuilding sexual identity
  • Communication skills and intimacy planning with or without a partner
3. Support between sessions
Secure messaging access for questions, coaching, and small course corrections as you go.
4. Follow up and maintenance
Optional check ins at 3 and 6 months to adjust your plan, celebrate wins, and address new stages of survivorship.
Who is this program ideal for?
This program is a strong fit if you:
  • Had breast, gynecologic, colorectal, or another cancer that affected hormones, pelvic organs, or your body image
  • Notice changes in your sexual life that have not improved on their own
  • Are open to talking frankly about sex, even if it feels awkward at first
  • Want both science and compassion, not quick fixes or shame based advice
  • If you are not sure whether your situation “counts,” that is usually a sign to reach out.

Your care team and collaboration
We do not replace your oncologist or gynecologist, we partner with them.

With your permission, we can:
  • Share summaries of your sexual health care plan
  • Suggest when pelvic floor therapy, gynecology, or other specialists may be helpful
  • You deserve a team that sees your sexual health as part of your cancer care, not an optional extra.
Ready to get started?
You have already done the hard part: surviving. The next step is to stop suffering in silence around sex and intimacy. There is no prize for pushing through pain or pretending you are “fine.”
